What happens if you start off making a symphonic movie soundtrack portraying your darkest imaginations, add a ton of industrial metal and put it all together in a typical song box labeled “very personal stuff”?
“The musical design of The Grim deviates from your traditional ”Symphonic Metal” by being backwards… With a twist; We´re not enhancing feature metal songs with symphonic scores – We´re enhancing symphonic scores with metal, while making them sound like feature songs. All cast in a dark, cinematic setting. Confused? May we introduce the term Cinematic Metal Purified!”
The backstory of composer Carl Lofvenhamn covers fairytale music for educational purposes (Liber, Bonnier), themes for Scandinavian TV shows and commercials (SVT, Viasat, TV4) symphonic intros for Swedish metal bands (Spawn of Possession, Insania et al.) as well as his most recent classical work “Anatema”- a choral war symphony in one movement. However, the journey with his favorite procreation began back in 2000, shortly after graduating from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. He simply got tired of “all the pretentious BS associated with classical music” as he puts it himself, and soon the experimenting process started rolling. While working a lot with synthesizers and samplers in his early 20’s, the following years of occasional collaboration with various classical singers and musicians would ultimately bring Carl closer to his cinematic approach. One of those singers was the critically acclaimed opera soprano Maria Fontosh, notable for her grand performances at the Royal Opera in Stockholm, Opéra National de Paris, Opera de les Arts in Valencia et al. She later became a featured artist on the upcoming album ”Sanctified”.
By early 2013 the sound and style of The Grim was all set, but there still was some uncertainty regarding the main vocals, since Carl never intended to do them by himself. So, as he would like to put it; “like a flash from the sky”, he came in contact with Maria Storck who has quite a different background as a singer/ songwriter doing mostly rock and blues as well as conducting workshops in the vocal art of growling. According to Carl, never before had it crossed his mind that a female singer would do the job, but when hearing Maria for the first time she was simply spot on. That same fall, Carl and Maria decided to record the lead vocals together which transformed The Grim into a metal duo. At this point, “Cinematic Metal Purified” felt like the obvious term to describe what The Grim is all about in the shortest possible way.

The long awaited new album from legendary guitarist Vinnie Moore, will be released on October 23 on Mind's Eye Music. Titled “Aerial Visions”, Vinnie's 8th solo album features drummer Richie Monica (Tantric, Poppa Chubby), and bassists Dave LaRue (Steve Morse Band, Flying Colors, The Dregs), Rob DeLuca (UFO, Sebastian Bach), Dorian Heartsong (Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience) and Elliott Dean Rubinson (Uli Jon Roth, MSG).

Vinnie has released seven critically acclaimed solo albums; five albums and one DVD as a member of rock royalty legends UFO; and one album with band Red Zone Rider. His solo and UFO releases as well as LIVE performances have amassed rave reviews all around the globe from both fans and music press, inspiring guitarists worldwide and launching him into aerial guitar superhero distinction!
Says Vinnie, “I have been touring all over the world pretty nonstop for the past 12 years. I started this record about two years ago and have been working on it while at home. I'm totally jacked up about getting it out there for others to hear as well as playing these songs LIVE. Two of the songs on 'Aerial' were written as instrumentals but were included on a UFO record with vocals. I have also done a cover of ZZ Top's 'La Grange' which I have always thought is one of the coolest songs ever. I have done ZZ covers onstage a lot.”
Vinnie has toured several times all over Europe, UK, Scandanvia, Brazil, and the USA, as well as performing in India, Korea, Mexico, Russia, and Canada. The UFO “A Conspiracy of Stars” tour will continue in Europe on October 21, and will include nine shows in December as opening act for Judas Priest on their Redeemer of Souls tour.

Says Vinnie, “With my solo records I can cover a lot more territory stylistically. I enjoy this freedom to be able to follow my muse wherever it leads. All of my influences are in there, from Rock to Blues to Be-Bop to Funk. I am into so many different styles of music that I can't help myself, I’m basically a slave to it all and so there are inspirations from everywhere. Having said that, being a songwriter is the most important thing to me. I try to use my inspiration to create a mood and take the listener on a little journey to wherever.”

Im Herbst 2009 starteten Jon Morter und seine Ehefrau Tracy eine erfolgreiche Kampagne und präsentierten eine Alternative zum Sieger der englischen Casting-Show „X-Factor“, der mehrere Jahre hintereinander zu Weihnachten Platz 1 der Single-Charts belegt hatte. Als alternativen Track nominierten sie „Killing In The Name” von Rage Against The Machine. Die Band unterstützte diese Kampagne, stellte die Einnahmen des Songs wohltätigen Zwecken zur Verfügung und ließ ihren Sänger Zack de la Rocha ein Freikonzert in England ankündigen, um den Erfolg zu feiern. Dieser Auftritt fand am 6. Juni 2010 im Londoner Finsbury Park statt und wird in diesem Film festgehalten. PSYCO DRAMA returns with Ashes to Wings, continuing the melodic power/progressive metal sound that brought them worldwide acclaim. Formed in Colorado Springs in 1990, PSYCO DRAMA established themselves as a musical force to be reckoned with on their debut album, The Illusion (1996). Its unique blend of hooks and melodies combined with epic and progressive passages resulted in compositions such as “Eyes Of A Child,” “Flames,” and “From Here,” with favorable comparisons placing them in the same league as progressive metal giants DREAM THEATER, QUEENSRYCHE and FATES WARNING.

TOTO singer Joseph Williams teams up with former Chicago singer Bill Champlin and Swedish guitarist/producer Peter Friestedt for a new remarkable AOR release following the success with the ”Live In Concert” DVD that made it all the way to the top on the Swedish Chart!
In 2012 Champlin/Willams/Friestedt played a sold out Scandinavian tour and during this time the first recordings of the "CWF" album took place. The new album also includes contributions from Steve Porcaro of TOTO, Randy Goodrum (TOTO, Chicago), Will Champlin and Tamara Champlin.
Champlin says: "I’ve been involved with a project that includes me, Peter Friestedt a great guitarist and producer from Sweden, and Joseph Williams, the singer of TOTO! I was pretty knocked out by the stuff. I’d almost forgotten how good it was when we did it. There are great songs and even better performances on this album, and I know you’ll love it It’s rare for me to be involved with a project and be surprised by how good it is. This one will knock you out.”
Joseph Williams is the lead vocalist with Grammy winning US band TOTO. He has been busy as a composer of film and drama scores, as a session vocalist, backing singer and can be heard in Disney’s animated feature film “The Lion King” as singing voice of the adult Simba (“Hakuna Matata” and “Can You Feel The Love Tonight”).
Guitarist, producer & recording artist Peter Friestedt has released two critically acclaimed albums “LA Project” (2002) and “LA Project II” (2008) that got top reviews. Peter has been a busy sessionplayer playin on records with David Foster and Fergie Frederiksen and touring Europe and Japan with Joseph Williams with who he also released the "Williams/Friestedt" album that was a top 40 hit in Scandinavia!
Bill Champlin was the lead singer of the legendary band Chicago for more than 25 years, and is a founding member of the band Sons of Champlin. Champlin has written Grammy award winning songs for Earth Wind & Fire and George Benson, and worked with countless artists including Elton John, The Doobie Brothers and Steve Lukather of TOTO.

Enlisting Grammy-nominated engineer/producer Steve DeAcutis (Vanilla Fudge, Cyndi Lauper, Corey Glover, etc…) and veteran producer/A&R man Steve Lunt (Britney Spears, ‘NSync , Joan Jett ,etc…), the latter who first honed his skills alongside the legendary Mutt Lange as vocalist of the chart topping British band City Boy, the guys checked into the SPA (Sound Spa Recording) and an immediate synergy took hold. The finishing touches were then added by top mastering engineer Alan Douches (Fleetwood Mac, Yes, Train, Pete Townsend, etc….) at his West West Side Music facility.
Reuniting some old friends, and making some new, RADIO EXILE is a fantastic blend of hard rock that will not disappoint the existing fans of any of these musicians.
